Reading
- Your favorite genre/s: Fantasy, post-apocalyptic, horror, sci-fi, fairy-tales. - Your favorite author/s: Many, but I have to credit Jane Yolen for really jump-starting my imagination when I was a teenager with her Dragon's Blood series. - Your favorite book/s: Seventh Son by Scott Orson Card, Dragon's Blood, The Dark Tower, the original Star Wars novel ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster, I Am Legend, Interview With a Vampire, The Brothers' Grimm's version of Snow White, and many others. - Your favorite character/s: Many, but I'll just name one... Roland, The Dark Tower. - Least favorite book/s: Anything I've ever picked up by Dean Koontz. When most sequels run longer than a trilogy I tend to bow out if it feels like the author is prolonging the plot unnaturally (Anne Rice comes to mind, with her vampire chonicles, the first three are pretty good, but couldn't get into the latter). Piers Anthony had some good ideas, but his writing style (and blatant sexism) is just not for me. - Least favorite characters: Most Piers Anthony characters leave much to be desired. - Recommended reading: If you like historical AU fantasy, Seventh Son by Scott Orson Card is a must read.
Writing
- What do you write: Original fiction, fanfiction, drabbles, very occasionally songs or poems. - Your favorite genre/s to write: Fantasy, post-apocalyptic , horror. - Do you write fanfiction? Yes. (Final Fantasy 7 currently, but the only other fandom I've ever written for was FF6). - Do you write original fiction? Yes. - Current project: Working on an original post-apocalyptic fantasy-horror novel, and keeping active doing various writing exercises and challenges as they arise in both original fiction and fanfiction communities. - An area you'd like to improve in: I'm open to improvement in all aspects of my writing. - An accomplishment you're proud of: Writing a completed 50,000+ word (fanfic) story that was well received.
Other
- Hobbies: Writing, drawing, gaming, dancing. I get into geeky activities like web design, CSS, and graphic design, among many other things. - What's in your journal? Personal stuff, and my fiction/fanfiction posts. - Why did you move to DW? It was time to get a fresh start. I've never been overly fond of LJ policies, and I've heard some great stuff about DW, so it seemed like a logical move. - Favorite energy drink? Rockstar (regular) if I can afford it, otherwise coffee! XD - Anything else? I've created a few writer-centric communities here on DW. One for fiction posts of any type: fiction, and if anyone likes to write drabbles and respond to challenges, check out fiction_drabbles. First prompt is Thursday, May 7th!
