I did it once before and got cold feet 2,000 words from 50,000. That was a long time ago, though, and I had no proper plan for the novel. I do have a plan now - I also know I have huge gaps in my background information, so I expect the biggest problem in editing is just doing research after the fact and trying to fit the fiction into facts. I meant to do more research beforehand but got sucked into other projects, so I guess I'll just check facts as I go. Hoping to make it work in the end, though. I do also have a habit of getting distracted or overwhelmed by research, so maybe it's better this way, just to get me through the first hurdle of writing.

I kind of like tangled novels. :) They're more organic than the straight-forward, one-idea novels.
